Your Role:
The candidate will assist in the design of distribution engineering for our Power Division . To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare engineering deliverables for overhead and underground distribution systems including AC and DC collector systems, feeder design, distribution equipment installation, feeder replacement, and cable replacement
- Prepare technical calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling and pole loading
- Prepare material lists, construction details, drawings and diagrams
- Prepare complex and complete drawings using computerized drafting tools using AutoCAD or Microstation
- Apply knowledge of utility standards, guides, specifications and procedures as well as CSA/NESC standards
- Exercise initiative in completing recurring assignments independently
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related Engineering Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 1-3 years of related experience is considered an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of both overhead and underground distribution engineering/construction principles, practices, and methods.
- Must be eligible to register as a Professional Engineer In Training in Ontario or with another province in Canada
- Ability to work in team environment
- Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer-based design tools
Additional Information
A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada or the US. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
