For more information, follow Telesat on X and LinkedIn or visit www.telesat.comOur Software Development team architects, develops, tests and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model, a state-of-the-art suite of engineering software tools running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation and end-to-end communication system performance analysis of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation. As a Software Developer in Test, you will ensure the quality and reliability of the System Model codebase, as well as the microservice ecosystem supporting it, through effective and automated software testing. The Senior Software Developer in Test will be responsible for writing software tools and scripts in addition to leveraging existing test frameworks and tools to perform integration, system, performance, and other tests to validate the functional and non-functional requirements of the product. They will also be responsible for integrating these tools and frameworks into the software development process by contributing to the continuous development and deployment pipelines.Main ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the development team to understand software requirements and design test strategies accordinglyBuild and maintain the tooling infrastructure needed to validate functional and non-functional requirements of the System Model, writing code to test codeBuild and maintain automated test frameworks and infrastructure using GitLab, Git Runners, and Slurm-based HPC resourcesDevelop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases and continuous integration for the System Model suite within varied software development environments including Matlab, Java, and PythonPerform various types of testing, including functional, regression, performance, and scalability testing, to ensure code qualityAnalyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issuesContinuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectivenessMonitor and manage test environments, ensuring stability and availabilityStaying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to software testing and automationEducation & Experience RequiredBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field5-9 years of relevant experience in software development and testingExperience in Python and/or Java programming languageExperience with one or more of the following technologies: Golang, C/C++, Kafka, gRPC, Databases, SQL, Azure, etc.Experience working with multiple test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium Web Driver, Katalon, Watir, Cucumber and othersExtensive experience with GitLab for version control and CI/CD processes and Git Runners for test automationSolid understanding of Linux environments and command-line toolsExperience with Linux clusters and cluster job managersExperience with agile developmentExperience with Matlab language and programming platform is considered an assetSpecialized Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to identify and troubleshoot issues efficientlyStrong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teamsAttention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality softwareExperience with business considerations and practical limitations related to system design and implementationAbility to prioritize opportunities, needs and resourcesAn aptitude for and interest in complex technologyAbility to bring forth new ideas to create and improve infrastructure and processesFluent in English, written and oral.
