Employment Opportunity Director of Engineering and Public Works The Town of Labrador City is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual to join our management team as the Director of Engineering and Public Works . Position Overview Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director will oversee all outside operations, including road maintenance, water and sewer infrastructure, waste management, snow clearing, and public work. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, leadership, and strategic direction for municipal engineering projects, health and safety protocols, and departmental operations. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise public works and engineering staff, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to safety standards. Oversee the design, operation, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure and equipment. Oversee the development and implementation of health and safety protocols and practices. Provide technical advice and direction on development, infrastructure, and public works projects. Coordinate capital works projects, budgets, and scheduling. Liaise with consultants, contractors, developers, and government agencies. Ensure compliance with environmental standards and provincial regulations. Manage departmental budgets and reporting protocols. Support training and professional development for staff. Qualifications Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), CET with municipal experience, or relevant engineering degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in municipal engineering or public works. Strong leadership, technical, and communication skills. Knowledge of municipal operations, infrastructure, and public works. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
