Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA)


Position Description:

The Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBCA) is responsible for applying principles of behavioural psychology to support students in overcoming communication, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that represent barriers to their academic success and sense of belonging at school. The BCBA will join the Inclusion Division at Learning Services to provide district and school level support for students who have difficulty self-regulating and demonstrate challenging behaviours. The BCBA will conduct functional behaviour assessments, support the design, team training, and implementation of Positive Behaviour Support plans (PBS), and assist with site-specific safety training for school personnel. Additionally, the BCBA will be involved in the educational programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This position is from September 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 with the possibilityof an extension. As this position does not work over the summer monthsthis position is considered a part-time position with an annual FTE of 0.8.

This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for overtime and it is not part of a Union.

Work Year:10 month (September 1 to June 30)

Hours:

40 hours/week, minimum 8 hours per day

Nature and Scope:

  • Administer, conduct, evaluate, and supervise functional behavioral assessments.
  • Provide effective delivery of evidence-based behavior services through designing positive behaviour support plans based on assessment results.
  • Prepare plans, train and support staff and students through providing personalized goals for students and group programs. This includes follow through implementation support.
  • Review progress reports, evaluate behaviour plans, and achievement of individual goals and program objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team in the educational setting.
  • As required, be involved in IEP development and implementation for students with ASD.
  • Maintain strong ties with the autism community, behavioural consultant services and the community living field to coordinate support and resources.
  • BCBA-D supervision and guidance may be provided.
Qualifications and Attributes:
  • Board Certified Behavioral Analyst- an accredited graduate/Masters level degree, proof of coursework in behaviour analysis, and a supervised period of practical experience.
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate- Preferred but not required.
  • BCBA is in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Knowledge and ability to use Positive Behavior Supports, Functional Assessment/Analysis of Behavior and Collaborative Model of Support processes to develop behaviour goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ALL students
  • Experience and knowledge of the dynamics involved in a collaborative, professional and productive learning community at school and district level
  • Knowledge and experience with data driven dialogue, school growth plans, and District Framework for Student Learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to relate well with teachers, students, parents, school-based teams and community members
  • Crisis Prevention & Intervention and Conflict Resolution training to support plans for challenging behaviours
  • Resourceful, creative, adaptive and organized to work in a variety of different environments, meeting a variety of different needs
  • Being able to travel to various district sites.
  • Collaborative, interdisciplinary, and demonstrated ability to work across teams and across different personalities, while managing professionalism and a high degree of self-regulation.
  • Experience and competency in a calm, caring, trauma-informed approach centered around patience and understanding of diversity.
  • Ability to inspire and work with school based teams, and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals.
  • Evidence in being a self-starter, motivated, and passionate in the work.
  • Commitment to professional development, building capacity, and is a lead learner.

Compensation:

  • $2,000 relocation allowance from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4,000 from other areas
