Automation TechnologistJob Summary: We are hiring an Automation Technologist to work with one of our Military Defense Manufacturing clients in Brantford Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Automation Technologist will be responsible for overseeing and delivering assigned projects throughout their full lifecycle. Collaboration with production, procurement, and other departments is essential to ensure all necessary information is obtained and correctly documented prior to final release.Job Type: Full-time, permanent. Job Location: Brantford, ON Compensation Structure: 50k-60k per annum, depending on experience. Responsibilities:Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and direct the integration of technical activities necessary to satisfy new product and ECR requirementsDesign/build automation projects as required to support productionAssist in building, planning, and testing new and existing products to specificationEnsure all necessary product design documentation is created and maintainedEstablish accurate BOM and drawings that meet the engineering department’s standardsEnsure products are assembled and tested to meet the specifications of our customer and are within Good Engineering Practices (GEP) DesignProcess ECR’s, ECN’s, NCM’s and DVR’sAssist purchasing to ensure that all purchased parts and material meet engineering requirements and specificationsResolve problems related to design, material, quality control, production processes and drawingsAssist the procurement of tools/equipment required to allow production to manufacture product to specificationAssist in the development of and maintenance of quality standards and procedures for the production and engineering departmentPursue continuous improvement projects Follow standards and procedures for engineering and technical work performed in the departmentContinually look for better ways to perform daily activitiesSupport safety initiatives and good housekeeping practicesEnsure all quality policies and procedures are followed throughout the companySkills/Qualifications:Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma or related degree/trade certificate; preferred APEO CertificationKnowledge of automation hardware/software including motor control, PLC’s, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, motion controlKnowledge of CNC concepts and G/M code programmingProgramming languages such as C, Python, Java Electrical design/CAD and troubleshootingProject Management experienceSafety standards required automated machineryMetal fabrication and manufacturing production experience2+ years’ experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or 3D Modelling softwareStrong knowledge of materials and structural design and analysisStrong organizational and creative problems solving skills Effective communicator with the ability to coach and mentor othersSelf-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projectsMust qualify for security clearance for a controlled goods companyApply Today Note - AI-assisted tools may be used to help screen, assess or shortlist candidates.
