Reporting to the Purchaser/Production Manager, the Steel Fitter is responsible for will fabricating, assembling, and installing steel or other metal components according to specific specifications, and blueprints. The Steel Fitter will work closely with welders, ironworkers, and supervisors to ensure accurate and efficient installation of steel structures. Primary Scope of Role:Fit, assemble, and secure structural steel components according to plans and specificationsEnsure accurate layout, alignment, and installationWork collaboratively with welders, ironworkers, and site leadership to complete project tasksMaintain compliance with all safety standards and site proceduresStudy engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficientlyConstruct patterns and templates as guides for layoutsRig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksiteAssemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using tack welding, bolting, riveting or other methodsSet up and operate various heavy-duty metal-working machines such as brake presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders and drills, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form heavy-metal componentsInstall fabricated components in final product.Position Requirements:Minimum 3 years of experience in steel fitting, ironworking, or structural installationProficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and erection plansStrong understanding of structural steel components and fitting techniquesExperience operating or assisting with rigging and hoisting The job requires manual handling of materials, standing for long periods, bending, and twistingAbout UsOur PeopleAt Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP), our people are second to none.
