Reporting to the Director, Strategy Enablement, the Project Manager, HR Initiatives will be responsible for overseeing the successful completion of a variety of complex projects with cross-functional operational impacts. The Project Manager will be a hands-on leader, responsible for leading the full project lifecycle management. The successful candidate will bring strong project management, critical thinking, attention to details, and a desire to “dig in” to learn the business while being mindful of the strong culture and commitment of the Company to provide care and services to our residents and support our team members across Canada as we “help people live better”.This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.Key responsibilities include: Lead multiple concurrent projects to completion, demonstrating strong prioritization and problem-solving in a fast-moving environment.Accountable for end-to-end delivery of project objectives, which may include vendor contracting and management, solution design and implementation, and communication/change-management planning.Lead stakeholder engagement and cross-functional meetings (Payroll, Finance, Program/Portfolio Management, IT, Data Architecture, Operations), building buy-in and clear decision paths.Partner closely with HRIS teams (e.g., Workday or similar) to translate business needs into implementation requirements.Oversee systems migration at a project level, including data mapping, cutover planning, validation/reconciliation, SIT/UAT coordination, defect triage, and hyper care.Coordinate dependencies across integrations (time, payroll, finance/GL, identity/access), aligning environments, test data, and release schedules.Support legal entity change and employee transfer activities (on/offboarding, data readiness, payroll/benefits alignment) in collaboration with HR, Payroll, Finance, and Legal.Identify and manage risks across internal and external team using RAID logs; develop mitigation and contingency plans; escalate decisively with options.Provide clear status reporting, dashboards, and executive updates on milestones, timelines, decisions, and impacts across site operations and senior leadership.Build and maintain collaborative partnerships characterized by shared accountability, open communication, and transparency.Perform other duties, as assigned.What we’re looking for: Proven experience managing enterprise HR projects, including HRIS system migrations and integrations with cross-functional teams (HR, Payroll, IT).Demonstrated ability to lead large cross-functioning time-sensitive projects with operational constraints, such as M&A integration or separations, system migrations, and collective bargaining implementations.Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience facilitating decision-making across diverse groups (HRIS, Payroll, Finance, Legal, Operations).Expertise in risk management, including RAID log usage and development of mitigation and contingency plans.Data-driven approach to problem solving, using metrics (defects, data quality, adoption, schedule/budget variance) to inform decisions.Minimum 5 years of project management experience in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, collaboration platforms (Teams/SharePoint), and project tracking/reporting tools (MS Projects, SmartSheets).What Extendicare has to offer:At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential.
