Job OverviewThe Railway Maintenance Technician will carry out comprehensive maintenance, fault diagnosis, recovery and repair services for Trillium Line trains and vehicle department equipment. This role ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the trains.
Responsibilities- Implement maintenance procedures, engineering drawings and instructions to meet required standards.
- Diagnose equipment failures and rectify them efficiently, adhering to standard procedures and safety guidelines.
- Assist with commissioning new and existing trains or related systems, ensuring high reliability and safety.
- Complete check sheets and necessary documentation for certifying Trillium Line vehicles as serviceable.
- Perform train movements for maintenance and fault finding.
- Conduct train rescue and recovery operations as needed.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance initiatives with a focus on Continuous Improvement.
- Develop knowledge of train and operating systems, mechanical, electrical and electronic.
- Contribute to delivering safe, reliable vehicles in service as efficiently as possible.
- Carry out activities strictly adhering to relevant Safety Regulations, Departmental Instructions, Maintenance Procedures and Instructions.
- Maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment under the direction of the Vehicles Team Leader and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Heavy Duty, Automotive Mechanic, Industrial Electrician, or Avionics Technician background or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience within a maintenance/workshop environment, preferably with DMU vehicles or in a heavy industrial setting.
- Graduation from a recognized Trades or Technology School relevant to qualifying as a Trillium Line Vehicle Technician.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Well motivated with an aptitude for mechanical, electrical and electronic systems.
- Candidates will be subject to mechanical/electrical aptitude testing.
- A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Valid class G Ontario drivers license.
