Job Title: Biological Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Biological Research Scientist to join our team at SickKids. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for conducting research into the structure and functioning of human, animal, and plant tissues and cells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research into the structure and functioning of human, animal, and plant tissues and cells
  • Supervise laboratory technical personnel, medical clinical personnel, graduate students, research scientists, and other professionals
  • Write articles meant for the general public about wellness issues
  • Maintain, update, and manage health information databases
  • Supervise biological technologists and technicians and other scientists
  • Produce reports
  • Conduct studies into the identification, effects, and control of human, plant, and animal pathogens and toxins
  • Conduct literature reviews
  • Interpret trends and developments on health issues
  • Produce articles to provide health information to association or organization members
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, or symposia
  • Monitor and compile research results
Requirements:
  • Doctorate degree in a relevant field
  • 5 years or more of experience in a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
