Laboratory Specialist

Bureau Veritas Laboratories is seeking an experienced Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Bedford, Nova Scotia. As a key member of our laboratory staff, you will be responsible for coordinating mechanical prep crush activities, ensuring equipment maintenance is complete, and preparing trace metal digestions for soils, solids, biota, air quality filters, and waters for complex analytical instrumentation (ICP/MS).

This is a Contract position to February 13, 2026 with Medical & Dental Benefits.

About the Role:

• Responsible for coordination of mechanical prep crush workload.
• Proficient in all trace metal sample digest procedures and in leachate extraction methods - provide back-up capabilities and assistance where needed.
• Assist with ICP-MS instrument sample preparation and act as a back-up analyst for the mercury workstation.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and ensure strict adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Metals Analyst - Advanced laboratory position covering a variety of responsibilities that require knowledge of chemistry and laboratory procedures.
• Coordinate all mechanical prep crush activities; ensure equipment maintenance is complete.
• Prepare trace metal digestions for soils, solids, biota, air quality filters, and waters for complex analytical instrumentation (ICP/MS).
• Provide advice, guidance, and training to Lab Tech and Analyst I staff on the methods used within the department.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• B.Sc., technical diploma or equivalent experience
• 1 to 2 years of experience in Trace Metals Analysis preferred
