The Physiotherapy Practitioner, reporting to the Rehabilitation Services Manager, plays a vital role in assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations or disabilities in a tertiary care setting.
This position involves obtaining detailed medical histories, performing specific and standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine physical diagnoses. Holistic treatment programs are developed using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical and hydrotherapy techniques to help patients regain and/or maintain optimal function.
Responsibilities- Educate and communicate effectively with other health disciplines, the general public, family members and caregivers on health promotion, physiotherapy treatment and patient management.
- Supervise physiotherapy assistants as part of the clinical team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participate in evaluating team effectiveness and solve problems and share responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree or entry-level master program in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
- Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body).
- Computer skills, including statistics input, word processing and Outlook.
- Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
- WHMIS training and certification.
- Additional courses/education/training in specialized areas or practice, such as cardio-respiratory techniques, acupuncture, stroke rehabilitation, manual therapy, balance training, etc.
- Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours biweekly, involving shiftwork, call, rotation, etc.
CompensationThe successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $33.97 hourly.
