About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shop Foreman / Lead Diesel Mechanic to join our team at First Student. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for scheduling and performing school bus fleet maintenance, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex problems, and maintaining service records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule and perform school bus fleet maintenance on various vehicle types
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems
  • Maintain service records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Supervise technicians in the shop and generate work orders
  • Monitor shop operational performance and efficiency
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed
  • At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education
  • Previous experience in a lead technician, supervisor, or other management role is preferred
  • Possess a mechanic's tool set and willingness to participate in ASE certification program
  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee
