Job Title: Chief Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our team at McCain Foods (Canada).

Job Summary:

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of our 1st Class powerhouse, including ammonia and refrigeration systems. This role will also involve providing support and direction to tradespeople in maintaining the reliability of boiler and refrigeration, and water treatment services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the powerhouse, including ammonia and refrigeration systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to tradespeople in maintaining the reliability of boiler and refrigeration, and water treatment services.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of contractors and maintenance personnel.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and programs to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Coach and mentor plant associates on change management and driving/sustaining positive business practices and tool applications on the shop floor.
  • Prepare shift schedules and oversee associate training.
  • Liaise with corporate support for project management initiatives.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement process, including process improvement initiatives, employee training, and upgrading your current skill base.
Requirements:
  • 1st Class Power Engineers Certificate.
  • 5 to 10 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks.
