Production Manager

Starfield LION is a leading manufacturer of PPE products for firefighters and first responders in North America. We are seeking a highly skilled Production Manager to join our team.
Job Summary:The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all functional operations of our Production departments. This includes ensuring production schedules are met within budget, developing and maintaining the organization of the Production departments, and contributing to overall plant strategy.
Key Responsibilities:- Assure compliance to all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, including provincial, NFPA, and ISO standards.
- Schedule weekly production and monitor/balance workflow throughout the facility.
- Lead and develop a culture of safety by holding supervisory staff accountable for safe work practices, participating in safety audits and monthly safety meetings, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing counter measures when necessary to minimize injuries.
- Lead change management for system improvements to reduce errors, minimize costs, and increase efficiency. Actively participate in the quality program, including attending all meetings and activities.
- Ensure goals and objectives are met while complying with company policies/procedures and all regulatory requirements.
- Ensure manufacturing efficiency and cost reduction through optimum utilization of resources. Perform on-going evaluations and provide improvement of methods/systems. Align facility headcount with HR to maintain forecasted production.
- Direct work priorities and timelines and allocate resources to assure overall goals and timelines are met.
- Develop employees and supervisory staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development. Focus on employee engagement and retention management. Ensure that the annual performance review process is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Lead cost and efficiency improvement efforts through utilization of Lean tools.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by driving lean manufacturing philosophy and practices, supporting and leading Kaizen events, writing and implementing standard operating procedures, maintaining support of 5S events, and performing weekly 5S audits.
- Partner with other plant leaders to align/collaborate regarding best possible practices and solutions.
- Implement and provide oversight on multiple projects. Work effectively through management and production team members to ensure timely completion of projects and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred but will accept relative industry experience in lieu of a degree.
- 6+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a Production Supervisor, or comparable role.
- Experience in Apparel or Textile industry.
- Experience with ISO 1:5 standards.
- Knowledge of UL testing and/or NFPA regulations considered a huge asset.
- Strong computer and reporting capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent conflict resolution and team building skills.
- Ability to interact positively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve results through others.
- Ability to drive change management with subordinates and peers.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with a team.
