Position Overview

This opportunity is within our Advanced Technologies division, based in Saskatoon. Our research location, Calian Composites, is a hub for innovation, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for satcom and other industries. We're looking for individuals who share our passion for new and innovative ideas.

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting design and manufacturing of new and existing products. You'll work closely with our team to develop and implement lean manufacturing initiatives, design and construct jigs and fixtures, and evaluate the safety of new products on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles.
  • Initiate, oversee, and implement lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions for production to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Evaluate the safety of new products on the shop floor to ensure they meet our high standards.
  • Design and construct jigs and fixtures to support production and improve efficiency.
  • Support quoting, project planning, and project management on initiatives and projects.
  • Support the development of new manufacturing methods or technologies to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Define and implement workflows and support the shop floor layout to optimize production.
  • Prepare and implement engineering change orders to ensure our products meet the latest standards.
  • Assist in the management of the bill of materials and other documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering, or demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading small teams is considered an asset.
  • Experience with composite material manufacturing is an asset but not required.
  • Experience in CAD, particularly Siemens NX, is an asset.
  • Experience with SAP is an asset.

Additional Requirements

The ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory. The successful candidate is required to apply for and receive a Government Security Clearance.
