The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Environmental Microscope Specialist to join our team in Ottawa West or Mississauga. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare, detect, identify, and quantify materials for asbestos content using polarized light microscopy (PLM) and/or phase contrast microscopy (PCM).
  2. Analyze asbestos air samples by PCM.
  3. Manage workflow and data entry using computers.
  4. Coordinate sample analyses and data review of all incoming samples based on priority and turnaround times.
Qualifications
  • A college diploma or other suitable Bachelor's Degree in Science (Biotechnology, Geology, or Biology would be an asset).
  • Mandatory minimum of 4+ years of experience in asbestos characterization by PLM and/or PCM in a laboratory.
  • Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to effectively follow/interpret work instructions, methods, and procedures.
  • High degree of manual dexterity.
  • Reliable and deadline-driven.
  • Strong communication skills.
