Waste Management Specialist

As a Waste Depot Labourer with GFL Environmental, you will play a vital role in the handling, consolidation, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide exceptional customer service to residents visiting our depots, ensuring a positive experience and fostering strong community relationships.
- Maintain effective communication with York Regional employees and the public, addressing inquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
- Thoroughly review and understand all training documents on-site, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
- Receive and process Materials for Hazardous Waste (MHW) from residents, accurately identifying, sorting, and packing them into designated containers.
- Promote a clean and organized work environment, maintaining grounds and facility to the highest standards.
- Adhere to supervisor instructions, prioritizing tasks and contributing to a safe and efficient working atmosphere.
- Don required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times, upholding strict safety protocols.
- Maintain equipment in good working order, reporting any issues or damage to ensure seamless operations.
- Closely follow all rules and regulations governing depot operations, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Demonstrate ability to perform moderately labor-intensive tasks, consistently meeting productivity expectations.
- Meet physical demands of the role, including lifting objects exceeding 50 pounds and standing on cement surfaces for extended periods.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, fostering open dialogue with colleagues and the public.
- Utilize planning and organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and achieve goals.
- Analyze and resolve problems efficiently, thinking critically to find solutions.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
We estimate an annual salary of approximately $60,000 based on market conditions and industry standards. As a Waste Depot Labourer, you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the success of GFL Environmental while developing valuable skills and expertise.
