Welding Instructor

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welding Instructor to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As a Welding Instructor, you will be responsible for conducting classes in multiple welding processes at various levels, selecting and designing training aids, and preparing and delivering lessons to students.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct classes in multiple welding processes at the pre-employment, apprentice, upgrader, and service program levels as assigned.
• Select, design, update, and construct training aids and materials.
• Prepare and deliver lessons, assignments, lectures, and demonstrations for educational purposes.
• Evaluate students through exams, assignments, and observations, and record student progress.
• Supervise students in classroom, shop, labs, and tours, as well as Saskatchewan Polytechnic property and sanctioned activities.
• Counsel students and prospective students on program and job opportunities.
• Assist in equipment maintenance and inventory management.
• Attend staff meetings, trade seminars, and workshops to stay current with industry and educational requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Journeyperson Certificate in the Welding trade.
• Two years' recent/relevant post-Journeyperson experience as a Welder.
• Effective instructional ability.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Effective communication skills (written and oral).
• Able to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
• Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of technology, including the internet, email, and MS Office Suite software.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.
