Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our General Surgery team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with complex medical needs, working collaboratively with surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated diseases, disorders, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice.
- Monitor ongoing care, order appropriate screening diagnostic investigations, and interpret reports to inform treatment decisions.
- Establish priorities for patient management, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess and diagnose patient status, develop treatment plans, and admit and discharge patients as needed.
- Prescribe medications within the statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners and within applicable employer policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Current practicing registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Recent relevant clinical nursing experience.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals about health findings, diagnoses, treatment, and self-care.
- Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices and introduce education and evidence-based research.
- Ability to assess and recognize population health trends and plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.
