Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Nutrition Aide to join our team in the Nutrition Services department. As a Nutrition Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the preparation and assembly of high-quality meals for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble meals on the cold assembly beltline, following meal ticket requests
  • Retrieve, stock, and set up food items and supplies at workstations
  • Disassemble, clean, and maintain workstations and beltline areas
  • Transport carts to receiving and elevators/units
  • Perform cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or recognized equivalent
  • Food Handler's/Hygiene Certificate (on-the-job certification provided)
  • 3 months to less than 6 months of practical and related experience and/or 1 month to less than 3 months of on-the-job training
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to read/understand verbal work orders, instructions, short notes, and/or brief forms
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, etc.)
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high-quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgment with the ability to multi-task
  • Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN's Privacy Policy
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN, and/or departmental policies
  • Client service-oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds, and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job: able to lift 6kg to 10kg; pushing, loading, and unloading food trucks; adding food items to trays
  • Must be able to tolerate a cold environment; in a refrigerated work area
  • Will be required to work rotating shifts on weekends and statutory holidays
  • May be required to work at multiple areas as well as rotating shifts in emergency situations
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
