Genomics Data Specialist

About the Role
The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Technical Specialist to join its Division of Genome Diagnostics. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying software applications for test requisitioning, laboratory information management, and automated execution of bioinformatics pipelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Deploy software applications for test requisitioning and laboratory information management
- Automate execution of bioinformatics pipelines
- Track quality control metrics and interpret genetic variants
- Generate clinical reports and deposit large-scale genomics data for research
- Develop new software to integrate multiple systems, provide automated data summaries, or prototype new algorithms
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-8 years of experience in software applications roles
- Expertise in high-performance computing environments for analysis of genomic data
- Demonstrated past successful implementation of complex software systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Project management certification (PMP)
- Experience deploying software pipelines on commercial cloud computing environments
- Mentorship or team leadership experience
