Adult Support Team Lead

We are seeking a skilled leader to join our Adult Disability Services team in Nelson. As a Team Leader, you will play a critical role in creating a safe and supportive environment for both staff and individuals being supported. Your main responsibilities will include leading a team of support workers, developing and implementing plans to support individuals, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. This is a full-time, salaried position with usual hours of work being Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the service. You will also be included in the on-call roster.
Responsibilities
- Leading a team of support workers to provide high-quality services to individuals
- Collaborating with individuals and their whānau to understand their needs and goals
- Developing and implementing individualised plans to support individuals in achieving their objectives
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both staff and individuals being supported
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders, including professionals and community groups
Requirements
- Experience working in disability or mental health services
- Understanding of trauma-informed support practices
- A person-centred approach to supporting individuals
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to advocate for the voice of the supported person at professional meetings
- Proficiency in report writing and Microsoft Office software
- Previous experience in leading a team
- Valid New Zealand driver's license
- Strong understanding of Enabling Good Lives principles
