Job Title: Senior Water Treatment Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Treatment Engineer to join our team at the City of Toronto. As a key member of our Water Treatment and Supply Section, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and project management to ensure the delivery of high-quality drinking water to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise in drinking water treatment, water transmission, and water system planning
  • Manage and coordinate projects, including complicated maintenance and repair works, to ensure operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance
  • Supervise and direct the work of professional engineers, technical personnel, and administrative staff
  • Develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of our water treatment and supply facilities
  • Represent the Division as a technical specialist at project and organizational meetings
Requirements:
  • Must be a qualified engineer as defined by the Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Extensive experience in municipal water treatment, including treatment unit processes, treatment and disposal of process residuals, pumpage and storage, and coordination of infrastructure
  • Considerable experience working with principles and practices of modern management as applied to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of municipal water treatment and supply facilities
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all stakeholders, peers, client departments, outside agencies, politicians, and other levels of government
