If you enjoy working independently, interacting with the public, and driving a vehicle in all sorts of weather and road conditions, you are ready to embark on a rewarding career and make the road your office.
As a relief mail carrier on call at Canada Post, you will work within an organization focused on growth and innovation and recognized as one of the best employers in Canada and one of the best corporate citizens. In addition to competitive pay, you will have the opportunity to progress with us and explore your career prospects, as you may be eligible to apply for future rural and suburban mail carrier positions.
Responsibilities- Proceed in a positive and courteous manner when dealing with clients face-to-face
- Be able to sort, collect, and distribute mail in a safe and timely manner
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, clients, and delivery receptacles
- Ensure that mail is safely in your possession
- Treat different CPC products and services (Change of Address, Damaged Mail, BID and others)
- Wear Canada Post identification when delivering and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail from clients
- Lift and transport articles up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg
- Have experience in deliveries and using a vehicle in all weather and road conditions
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record
- Have a valid permanent provincial driver's license - class 5 or G
- Have a minimum cargo space of 50 cu. ft.
- Automatic transmission
- Electric windshield wipers
- Steel roof and an additional power outlet to install a Canada Post panel and a flashing light
- Passenger window sill between 38 in and 45 in from the floor and maximum interior width of the vehicle of 56 in
- Fifth door or hatch to allow for the loading of oversized and bulky items (preferably)
- Provide and maintain the required automobile liability insurance
- Inform your insurance company of the use of your vehicle during your employment at Canada Post
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record
- Have a valid permanent provincial driver's license - class 5 or G
