Job Summary

The Drywall Specialist reports to the Production Manager and works under the construction division to complete restoration work for residential and commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Install drywall to cover walls, ceilings, soffits, shafts, and movable partitions in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  2. Measure and mark cutting lines on drywall.
  3. Scribe cutting lines on drywall and break boards along cut lines.
  4. Fits and fastens boards into specific positions on walls.
  5. Cuts openings in boards for electrical outlets, vents, or fixtures.
  6. Measures, cuts, assembles, and installs metal framing and decorative trim for windows, doorways, and vents.
  7. Fits, aligns, and hangs doors and installs hardware like locks and kick plates.
  8. Reads work orders or receives instructions from supervisors.
  9. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
  10. Practices good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered work site.
  11. Provides excellent customer service.
  12. Works under time constraints to meet specific timeliness.
  13. Maintains attention to detail and a keen sense of safeguarding others' property and information.
  14. Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices, following all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment.
  15. Complies with all BELFOR policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements.
  16. Proactively communicates job site conditions and concerns that may impact job completion to the appropriate person.
  17. This role may be required to act as a 'lead' periodically as designated by their manager.
  18. Attends all BELFOR-sponsored training courses.

Requirements

  1. Post-secondary drywall courses/certification, and/or 1+ years' experience in drywall installation.
  2. Construction/restoration/insurance experience preferred.
  3. Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices.
  4. Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per BELFOR's vehicle policy.
  5. Ability to work with a team or independently as needed.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience.
  9. Will to work evenings, on-call, and weekends when requested.
  10. Periodic travel may be required.
  11. Criminal Record Check.

Physical Demands

  1. Frequent lifting from 5-40lbs, unassisted (from 35-65% of the time).
  2. Occasional lifting from 41lbs+, assisted (up to 50% of the time).
  3. Frequently working overhead (over 50% of the time).
  4. Access and mobility in tight spaces.
  5. Fit Testing - half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required.
  6. Working at Heights - over 5 feet, periodically (over 50% of the time).
  7. Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling.
