Laboratory Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our team at ALS Environmental in Burlington, ON, Canada.
As a Laboratory Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing environmental samples for instrumental analysis, maintaining production, quality control, and turnaround times.
Key Responsibilities- Lead digestion and extraction of basic and complex samples following documented specific methods and/or procedures;
- Perform any required sample processing (e.g. screening, homogenization, sub-sampling, etc.) including work related to bio-hazardous samples;
- Perform sample concentration, clean-up, submission, and derivatization procedures on all analyses;
- Carry out all required work scheduling and planning activities;
- Carry out all required record-keeping & documentation;
- Monitor inventory of spare parts and consumables;
- Assist with training;
- Review and provide input on SOPs;
- Follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements and adhere to strict QA/QC requirements;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with basic computer skills;
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills;
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
- Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions;
- Degree or technical diploma in chemistry or related science discipline;
- 6 months to 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced, production, and/or preparation environment.
