Talent Management Specialist, Edmonton

We are seeking a highly skilled Talent Management Specialist to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of the national Talent Advisory team, you will provide Human Resources consultation and recommendations to Dentons staff members in the Edmonton office.
The successful candidate will oversee HR operations and processes for the Edmonton office staff, ensuring compliance with established policies, practices, and relevant legislation. You will also manage one direct report (Talent Coordinator) and advise and assist managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices.
A critical aspect of this role is the administration and management of employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, tracking leave balances, processing requests, and coordinating return-to-work plans to support workforce planning and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities- HR Operations: Oversee HR operations and processes for the Edmonton office staff, ensuring compliance with established policies, practices, and relevant legislation.
- Talent Coordinator Management: Manage one direct report (Talent Coordinator) and advise and assist managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices.
- Employee Leave Programs: Administer and manage employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, tracking leave balances, processing requests, and coordinating return-to-work plans to support workforce planning and employee well-being.
- Engagement and Culture: Support efforts to drive positive engagement and lead the planning and organization of local office events that promote employee engagement and office culture.
- Performance Management: Drive the annual performance management and compensation review process for Legal Support, Office Services, Paraprofessionals, and Business Services.
- Workplace Safety: Monitor workplace safety compliance, ensuring adherence to OHS standards and investigating workplace accidents or incidents.
- Education: University degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.
- Experience: Previous experience working with an HRIS and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively independently as well as contribute to a highly collaborative, virtual team environment.
