Job Description

E-Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Cloud Data Engineer Lead to join our team in Toronto, Canada. This role requires a strong background in designing and developing complex data-intensive applications using Java, Python, and other programming languages.

We offer a competitive salary of $175,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing large-scale data processing systems using cloud-native technologies such as GCS, BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Looker.
  • Leading the development of complex data pipelines using Apache Airflow and Spark.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance on software engineering best practices.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud-based solutions that meet business requirements.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on designing and developing complex data-intensive applications.
  • 3+ years of architecture and design experience, including patterns, reliability, scalability, and quality of complex systems.
  • Advanced coding skills and practices, including concurrency, distributed systems, functional principles, and performance optimization.
  • Professional experience working in an agile environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS

We are looking for candidates with expertise in the following areas:

  • Cloud data platforms and technologies, including GCS, BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, and Looker.
  • Apache Airflow and Spark, including experience with DAGs, task dependencies, and error handling.
  • GCP Services, including BigQuery, Composer, Dataproc, and Terraform.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, and SQL, as well as experience with Pandas, NumPy, and other data manipulation libraries.
Nice to Have Skills

Candidates with experience in the following areas will be considered:

  • Data-science or machine-learning packages, including Pandas, Pytorch, Keras, TensorFlow, etc.
  • Contributions to open-source software, code, docs, or mailing list posts.
  • GCP Professional Data Engineer Certification.
