**Fleet Maintenance Team**
We are a team of experienced professionals dedicated to maintaining and repairing a wide variety of specialized and heavy duty equipment. Our team includes technicians, apprentices and planners who work together to ensure that our fleet is always in top condition.
**Your Role**
As a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our mobile/portable equipment, including fire trucks, winter runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines.
**Responsibilities**
- Maintain and repair emergency rescue and operations vehicles and equipment, including 8x8 and 6x6 firetrucks, air stairs, emergency response light vehicles, foam trailers and pumps.
- Maintain and repair summer operations vehicles and equipment such as mowers, backhoes, excavators, ancillary attachments, and road maintenance equipment.
- Maintain and repair winter operations vehicles and equipment for snow and ice control.
- Maintain and repair specialty equipment and tooling.
- Plan, schedule and organize work area and facility.
- Lead activities and share knowledge with assigned apprentices.
**Requirements**
- Three years' recent, related experience, supplemented by the completion of a Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic (TTM) (formerly Commercial Transport) and/or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET) (formerly Heavy Duty Mechanic).
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently, with little supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to make safety a top priority.
- Valid BC driver's license (Class 1 preferred, minimum Class 3 with air brake endorsement).
