Job Title: Registered Nurse, Orthopaedic Oncology

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Orthopaedic Oncology team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a nurse on this team, you will provide care that involves both surgical and oncology nursing, delivering individualized cancer care to patients with rare types of cancer called sarcoma.

About the Unit:

Our unit is a -bed unit providing comprehensive care for orthopedic oncology and trauma patients. We have a unique program that allows patients to receive all of their cancer care needs on one unit, from diagnosis, staging, to treatment, to cure or palliative care when required. Our team is dedicated to providing expert care to our patients, and we are looking for a nurse who shares our commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient and family centered care for orthopaedic trauma and oncology patients
  • Care for patients post-operatively following sarcoma resection and reconstruction with complex wounds after major surgery
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Requirements:

  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Graduate of a CNO-approved bachelor's degree in nursing program, or equivalent combined education and experience
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Certification in provincial standardized chemotherapy and biotherapy administration through the de Souza Institute, or must be willing to complete chemotherapy certification course within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Certificate in Orthopaedic Nursing
  • Certificate in Oncology
  • Certificate in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) in Dementia Care
