Job Title: Lead Civil Engineer

Brandt Developments is seeking a highly skilled Lead Civil Engineer to join our team in Regina, SK. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and approving civil engineering works, preparing reports, estimates, and contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and approve civil engineering works, including grading, stormwater management, underground utilities, and surface improvements, in accordance with provincial and municipal standards.
  2. Lead the civil design team through projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  3. Provide internal landscaping advice or coordinate with external landscape architects as sub-consultants.
  4. Review and investigate preliminary civil layout and engineering options during the development planning process.
  5. Coordinate sub-consultants for planning, legal survey, geotechnical, and consultant services.
  6. Prepare cost estimates, tender contract documents, and engineering reports.
  7. Develop conceptual and detailed design calculations, layouts, sketches, and specifications that meet Brandt's needs and comply with sound engineering practices and standards.
  8. Investigate field and design problems and prepare reports.
  9. Perform engineering analysis and develop test procedures, provide quality standards, and adherence.
  10. Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
  11. Review, evaluate, and improve upon engineering designs, drafting, schematics, and specifications.
  12. Liaise with clients, authorities, and contractors.
  13. Project cost monitoring and schedule control as requested.
  14. Provide feedback and advice regarding the technical and civil aspects of a project.
  15. Complete site inspections during the construction phase, coordinate, and follow up on project issues.
  16. Perform contract administration duties on projects, including attending meetings, travel as required, submittal reviews, supplemental instructions, price requests, site inspection reports, meeting minutes, and all other aspects of the projects.
  17. Aspire to continuous improvement, while mentoring, monitoring, and supporting interdisciplinary project team members.
  18. Collaborate with other internal design departments to ensure project success.
  19. Knowledge of National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), Civil Engineering International Codes & standards, and industry standards, practice & regulations/applicable Codes having jurisdiction.
  20. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
  1. Proficiency with AutoCAD & Civil 3D software is required.
  2. 5+ years' experience in a consulting office preferred.
  3. Must have a Civil Engineering degree.
  4. Must be licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan.
  5. Site surveying knowledge and experience is an asset.
  6. Candidates will be required to work on multiple projects and collaborate with a team of architects, engineers, and technologists.
  7. Good written & verbal communication skills, attention to detail, enthusiasm, and driven to succeed in a positive environment.
