As the Operations Director, you'll oversee the accounting activities of the Operations Accounting team for the Northern Pellets business. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising, tracking, and evaluating day-to-day activities of the team, and working closely with the Group Finance teams and directors of North America Finance departments.
Within the role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the Operations accounting teams, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of monthly financial statements, and driving team performance. You'll also be responsible for:
- Allocating tasks across the team and driving team performance, assessing current practices/procedures, and assembling recommendations for improvements.
- Developing close working relationships with department managers and directors within Northern Pellet Operations, ensuring financial controls, and establishing processes.
- Managing and overseeing monthly transactions for all areas of the operations accounting team, covering the sales and logistics team, fiber accounting team, and Operations accounting team.
- Partnering with multiple teams, including Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and Technical Accounting, to ensure that all groups receive information needed to feed into Group accounts and policies.
- Supporting the Northern Pellet Production's annual plan process, 5-year plan, and quarterly forecast process, including overseeing Joint Venture partnership reporting and quarterly board reporting.
- Supervise and direct the accounting activities of the Operations Accounting team.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of monthly financial statements.
- Drive team performance and allocate tasks across the team.
- Develop close working relationships with department managers and directors.
- Manage and oversee monthly transactions for all areas of the operations accounting team.
- Partner with multiple teams to ensure information is shared and policies are implemented.
- Support the annual plan process, 5-year plan, and quarterly forecast process.
- Qualified Accountant (10+ years of experience) with a CPA preferred.
- Ability to present information to a wide range of end users with impact and clarity.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage a team effectively and create new approaches to issues.
- High self-awareness and ability to adapt influencing style to build relationships, mentor, and develop to get results.
