About the Role

The Recreation Assistant will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care and services to our clients at Wing Kei. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for promoting and advocating our vision, mission, and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalized care and support to clients, including daily living and personal hygiene activities.
  • Assist in the nursing process, observing, documenting, and reporting changes in clients' physical and emotional condition.
  • Implement and evaluate recreation programs according to client needs, encouraging participation and providing feedback.
  • Provide cognitive, social, and emotional support to clients, promoting their engagement in programs that enhance their quality of life.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with clients, families, and team members.
  • Participate in team meetings, client and family council meetings, and provide input in problem-solving processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training to ensure high standards of service and best practices in the field.

Requirements

  • Alignment with Wing Kei's vision and mission to deliver excellence in seniors care.
  • Completion of a recognized Therapy Assistant Program, Diploma in Social Services, or Recreation, or field-related experience.
  • Experience working in an Adult Day Program preferred.
  • Certification as a Recreation Therapy Aide or intention to pursue certification.
  • Strong observation skills, keen attention to detail, and a cheerful, energetic, and resourceful attitude.
  • Respect for clients' rights, privacy, and properties, and a commitment to effective work practices and safety awareness.
  • Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate in Chinese an asset.
