About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to join our Enforcement team at the British Columbia Securities Commission. As a Forensic Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting investigations involving breaches of the Securities Act.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform accounting and data analytics duties to support investigations
  2. Help investigators piece together complex evidence to be used in Commission hearings
  3. Report directly to the Manager, Investigations

Main Tasks

  1. Tracing funds and assets
  2. Collecting, organizing, and analyzing financial and trade data
  3. Attending investigative interviews and gathering evidence
  4. Preparing schedules, charts, and tables of evidence for use in hearings
  5. Testifying at hearings and providing expert testimony
  6. Reviewing financial statements and providing analysis
  7. Providing advice on accounting rules and requirements
  8. Communicating with auditors and other stakeholders

Requirements

  1. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. The ability to analyze and interpret large datasets
  3. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in data analysis tools
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  5. A highly analytical personality with natural skepticism
