Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Care Aide to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide essential support and assistance to residents/patients in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as identified in the care plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care and support to residents/patients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with meal preparation and feeding, as needed.
  • Help with mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and comfort of residents/patients.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans, working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
  • Monitor and report any changes in a resident's/patient's condition, ensuring timely interventions and referrals as needed.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care).
  • One to two years' experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably caring for elderly or disabled clients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Physical and mental stamina to perform the demands of the job, including working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with residents/patients who may be aggressive or agitated.
