Environmental Sustainability Coordinator

The Environmental Monitor will primarily be responsible for conducting environmental monitoring throughout the construction of various energy development projects. This involves coordinating daily compliance activities and monitoring duties during construction activities.
- Conduct wildlife monitoring activities, as required.
- Ensure implementation of mitigation measures from environmental management documents, permit conditions, and best management practices.
- Inspect implemented erosion and sediment control measures and provide recommendations for repair and amendment, when needed.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans and mitigation measures for any identified environmental issues or hazards.
The successful candidate will support Canacre's commitment to safety by participating in safety meetings, following safety policies, and being an advocate for safe work practices in the field.
This is a critical role that requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations and their application in the field. The Environmental Monitor will act as an environmental lead for the construction team, providing guidance and support to construction personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate environmental monitoring activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Implement mitigation measures to minimize environmental impacts.
- Inspect erosion and sediment control measures and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans for environmental issues or hazards.
- Education: Post-secondary degree/diploma in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field of study.
- Leadership: Formal leadership training would be considered an asset.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years professional experience as a biologist, environmental monitor, environmental planner, or related role.
- Wildlife Experience: At least one field season of demonstrated experience in nest sweeps or avian surveys.
- Related Experience: Experience related to pipeline, transmission line and renewable energy construction would be an asset.
- Field Work: Experienced leading field work, and coordinating with various field teams.
- Certification: Designation or certification related to erosion and sediment control, such as CPESC, CESSWI, etc., would be an asset.
