ROLE SUMMARY
The Medical Liaison Specialist at Prairie Mountain Health is a key player in reducing the administrative burden on physicians and providing practice-specific support. This role serves as an ambassador for PMH, interacting with medical providers and allied health workers to improve navigation of available resources. The Medical Liaison Specialist functions in a confidential capacity in matters relating to labour relations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview:
1. Develop and maintain physician orientation processes to enhance knowledge of regional and provincial services.
2. Regularly tour facilities and clinics to gather feedback from new physicians on additional information that would have been helpful during orientation.
3. Provide timely support through phone calls, in-person requests, and online services.
4. Curate and maintain a directory of services in PMH in collaboration with clinics, hospitals, managers, and physician groups.
5. Work with Diagnostic Services to develop a comprehensive understanding of available tests, their locations, and ordering procedures.
6. Ensure seamless computer access for new physicians upon start date.
7. Offer a broad overview of PMH services, tailored to the specific community.
8. Arrange dedicated orientation time for new physicians with Department Chiefs, Site CMOs, or Clinic physicians.
9. Collaborate with communities receiving new physicians to curate local resources, including family support information.
10. Conduct regular check-ins with new physicians to the region.
11. Regularly tour facilities and clinics to gather feedback from established physicians on patient navigation issues.
12. Perform exit interviews and report to Executive Management on notable issues and patterns.
13. Define available procedures in PMH.
14. Outline the referral process for PMH and Winnipeg.
15. Identify clinical issues that can be addressed virtually.
16. Determine services requiring a physician referral versus those accessible without one.
17. Define community resources available and how to access them.
18. Create communications to physicians about new or updated services.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
