About the Role

The HSE Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental protection of our employees, clients, and the general public on our projects. This role involves conducting project-specific safety orientations, inspecting equipment, and reporting any non-compliant conditions to the responsible project Superintendent or Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for own health, safety, and environmental protection, as well as that of direct reports, the general public, and visitors to the site(s).
  • Conduct project-specific safety orientations with all workers and visitors new to the worksite prior to commencement of work on the project.
  • Confirm that equipment inspections, preparation of reports, and follow-up on all noted deficiencies are completed.
  • Report any non-compliant conditions to the responsible project Superintendent or Supervisor.
  • Assist in BBS assessments, when required.
  • Confirm through inspections that controlled products supplied to projects are accompanied by a corresponding current SDS/MSDS, and other documentation as required by local government regulations.
  • Confirm through observations that the ERP and other related emergency documents, bulletins, and notices are posted and communicated to workers.
  • Attend and participate in HSE meetings.
  • Review incident reports and maintain monthly statistics to identify undesirable trends.
  • Conduct project inspections with the project Superintendent and worker to support hazard identification.
  • Arrange or conduct HSE training for workers and Supervisors.
  • Interact with regulatory bodies and clients, taking a hands-on approach and acting as the point of contact.
  • Deal with issues and support Operations as required.
  • Demonstrate HSE and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations of Actively Caring and Road to Zero.

Qualifications/Experience

  • High school graduation and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school.
  • Certification in Health and Safety, or a safety designation is an asset.
  • 1-2 years of experience in safety or a related field.
  • Understanding of how HSE MS systems work.
  • Understanding of general constructability.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and online reporting software.
