At Fortis Inc., we are seeking an experienced Energy Policy Specialist to join our Communications and Government Relations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and understanding the impacts of Canadian and United States' energy, climate, and broader business policies on Fortis and its subsidiaries.

You will monitor and analyze government programs, legislation, and public policy activities, preparing internal briefing notes and other communications materials to ensure awareness of public policy developments. Additionally, you will develop and track government relations plans and activities that help reach our energy, climate, and business goals.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the Government of Canada and the United States Government and related decision-making processes, as well as the ability to work across subsidiary companies synthesizing public policy information and creating position statements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and understand the impacts of Canadian and United States' energy, climate, and broader business policies on Fortis and its subsidiaries
  • Monitor and analyze government programs, legislation, and public policy activities
  • Prepare internal briefing notes and other communications materials
  • Develop and track government relations plans and activities
  • Prepare policy position papers in response to federal government and industry consultation processes
