About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at Valard Group of Companies. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of our fleet of heavy-duty equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform maintenance and repairs on internal combustion engines and related components, both stationary and mobile.
  2. Certified in both off-road and on-road vehicle maintenance.
  3. Conduct maintenance and repair work on gas and diesel engines, as well as compressors.
  4. Service and maintain tracked equipment, such as crawler tractors.
  5. Inspect, maintain, and repair ground-engaging equipment and related components.
  6. Maintain and repair earth-moving machinery and equipment.
  7. Oversee maintenance and repairs of tractors.
  8. Perform maintenance and repair on both on-highway and off-highway motor vehicles, such as trucks.
  9. Maintain and repair towed vehicles for both on-highway and off-highway use, including trailers.
  10. Interpret and follow work orders and technical manuals to complete tasks accurately.
  11. Ensure equipment is cleaned, lubricated, and maintained to optimal standards.
  12. Diagnose equipment faults or malfunctions accurately and efficiently.
  13. Adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, or systems as required.
  14. Test and repair equipment to confirm proper performance, ensuring all work aligns with manufacturers' specifications and regulatory standards.
  15. Write detailed and accurate service and maintenance reports.
  16. Mentor and train Heavy Duty Mechanic apprentices as required.
  17. Maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  18. Willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments as required.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
