About the Role:

The Globe and Mail is seeking a skilled Interactive Editor to join our digital storytelling team on an 18-month contract. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and coding interactive digital experiences that bring our stories to life.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop interactive visualizations and multimedia content for our website and social media channels.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, and visual journalists to create immersive digital-first stories and projects.
  • Act as an ambassador for digital storytelling in journalism across the newsroom.
  • Design and code templates and tools for a variety of digital story forms.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with Svelte, Node, or AWS services.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • A strong design sense, particularly in delivering content to mobile readers.
  • An ability to work with data to create interactive visuals that work on all platforms.
  • An understanding of why accessibility matters in producing interactive experiences for our readers.
