Job Title: Educational Assistant - Student Support

Northern Lights Public Schools is a dynamic and student-centered organization that values the well-being and success of all students. We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Educational Assistant to join our team at Cold Lake Junior High School.

The successful candidate will assist students with social skills, behavior skills, self-help, and personal care needs. This is a full-time position commencing at the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with academic and personal needs
  • Support students with social and behavior skills
  • Provide self-help and personal care assistance
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
  • Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
  • Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
  • Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
  • Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
  • Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
  • Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation
  • SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
