Job Title: Indigenous Youth Care Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Indigenous Youth Care Worker to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). The successful candidate will provide support to Indigenous students, promoting their social-emotional well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to Indigenous students, focusing on their academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, families, and community members to ensure a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to provide culturally relevant and responsive support.
  • Organize and facilitate culturally relevant experiences for students, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management, as needed.
  • Assist with connecting students and families to community resources and services.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of university or college coursework in areas related to youth care and counseling.
  • Training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (15-hour certificate program).
  • Two years of experience in Conflict Resolution, Anger Management, and Life Skills.
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Level 1 First Aid and Food Safe certifications.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with Indigenous culture.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult conversations.

  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
