Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team at the Ontario Public Service. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial transactions.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices, contract payments, credit card statements, and purchase orders
- Process approved and accurate invoices for goods and services received in a timely manner
- Process travel expenses and inventory receipts
- Prepare ministry reports on travel and reimbursable expenses
- Develop and maintain an efficient accounts payable records and filing system
- Maintain the departmental petty cash fund
- Assist the Procurement Lead with placing minor orders for goods, supplies, equipment, and services
- Strong working knowledge of basic accounting procedures and practices
- Ability to accurately process payment documents such as invoices and employee expense reports
- Experience working with financial systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting system
- Proficiency with computer software applications and databases
- Ability to prepare other financial reports as required
This is a temporary position with a duration of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
