About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead our software organization and drive the transformation of Information Management through technology. As a 2nd line manager, you will be responsible for building a top-tier team that is passionate about solving complex problems and making a real-world impact.

The successful candidate will have extensive people management experience, a strong track record of aggressively recruiting and building a software development organization, and a deep understanding of modern frameworks and techniques for building web application user interfaces.

Responsibilities include leading multiple pods of talented engineers, partnering with peers across engineering, product management, operations, support, and human resources to drive delivery of cross-functional projects, mentoring and guiding the professional and technical development of team members, and instilling a spirit of continuous improvement in the team's code, architecture, and processes.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience, shipping enterprise-grade software, using multiple languages and frameworks
  • Extensive people management experience, and experience aggressively recruiting for and building a software development organization
  • Experience building and managing large, highly scalable distributed services, complex databases, microservices, and APIs in service and resource-oriented architectures
  • Understanding of modern frameworks and techniques for building web application user interfaces
  • A degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

Benefits and Compensation

Global Relay offers a competitive base salary range of $130,000 - $145,000 CAD per annum, as well as a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, RRSP matching, and a hybrid work model that blends collaboration with the team in the office and focus time from home.
