About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer to join our team at Newmont Goldcorp Canada. As a key member of our Mine Engineering department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering to support the safe and efficient operation of our mines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering plans and strategies to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our mines.
  • Conduct numerical modeling and analysis to determine and estimate future rock mass behavior.
  • Review and recommend stope sizes, shapes, and sequencing to optimize production schedules.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement ground support recommendations.
  • Analyze data relating to strength, stability, and stress regime of rock mass to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain the ESG micro-seismic system and Newtrax instrumentation network.
  • Supervise and mentor junior rock mechanics engineers to ensure the development of their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
  • Expertise in numerical modeling software (Map3D) and instrumentation systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop practical, safe, and cost-effective solutions.
Working Conditions

The work schedule for this position is 14 days on, 14 days off, with 12-hour days. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, as well as opportunities for professional development and growth.
