About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court Officer to join our team in Bridgewater. As a Court Officer, you will play a critical role in supporting the Judiciary and ensuring the smooth operation of our courts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage court hearings at all levels of court
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to the Judiciary
  • Act as the clerk of the court in all courts, including jury sittings
  • Perform quasi-judicial duties as a Staff Justice of the Peace
  • Train and mentor new staff in day-to-day operational activities
  • Draft and prepare complex orders and decisions arising from court hearings
  • Record and transcribe court proceedings
  • Facilitate all aspects of court hearings, including operating technology to support virtual court models
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Two years of post-secondary education in a related discipline
  • Five years of related experience in a legal environment
  • Excellent keyboarding, data entry, and transcribing skills
  • Experience with virtual platforms and video conferencing
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills
  • Excellent proofreading, spelling, and grammar skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High degree of confidentiality and discretion
