The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Southern Health-Santé Sud plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. As a key member of our healthcare team, the LPN applies the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health within a people-centered care approach.

The LPN works to the full scope of practice, engaging in ongoing education and maintaining competency congruent with Southern Health-Santé Sud policies, Professional Standards of Practice, College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Manitoba Code of Ethics, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba and the Regulated Health Professions Act.

The incumbent will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters.

The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply the nursing process to support clients/residents/patients in achieving and maintaining their optimum level of health
  • Work to the full scope of practice, engaging in ongoing education and maintaining competency
  • Exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities and methods
Qualifications:
  • Current active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Completion of Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Program
  • Knowledge of Professional Standards of Practice, Competency Profile for Licensed Practical Nurses in Manitoba and Code of Ethics
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative interdisciplinary environment
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use an analytical and inquiring approach to problem-solving
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions autonomously
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility to meet the demands of the position
  • Able to effectively perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position
