Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and install machinery and equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Fabricate and install machine parts and components.
  • Review work requests and consult with user departments to determine project requirements.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine required materials and equipment.
  • Calculate materials and labor costs for projects and make recommendations as needed.
  • Prepare for work projects by performing operational and safety risk assessments and arranging work schedules with user departments.
  • Maintain, repair, and install machinery and equipment, including fans, pumps, turbines, compressors, electric motors, and gear reducers.
  • Machine various materials and parts to required tolerance using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Calculate strengths and safe working loads of materials to remove and install heavy machinery.
  • Position pieces of unassembled equipment when it arrives and assemble and install equipment.
  • Carry out the mechanical preventative maintenance program by inspecting machinery and components for repair and maintenance needs.
  • Assign work tasks to designated staff and provide related training and orientation.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools and complete related reports and records.
Qualifications
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Millwright (Industrial Mechanic) recognized by the Province of BC.
  • Two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
