ROLE SUMMARY

Vancouver Canucks is seeking a skilled Buyer, Retail Operations to enhance our retail assortment, drive sales, and support our growth strategy. This role will focus on sourcing and selecting merchandise, developing vendor relationships, and analyzing market trends to identify opportunities for product development and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sourcing and selecting merchandise to meet the needs of our diverse fan base
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Analyzing market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for product development and innovation
  • Coordinating and executing internal interdepartmental purchase orders
  • Monitoring inventory levels and analyzing sales data to optimize stock levels
  • Working closely with Sr. Manager, Retail Operations on replenishment strategies for retail teams
  • Developing sales forecasting models and data-driven insights to anticipate sell through rates and seasonal demand
  • Working with the Director, Merchandise to manage the open to buy budget and allocate resources effectively

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Merchandising, or Sports Management
  • 1-2 years of experience in merchandise buying, preferably in the sports industry
  • Strong understanding of NHL and NLL fan culture, sports-related products, and industry trends
  • Thorough understanding of ecommerce platforms and retail operations
  • Proficiency in inventory management, sales forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
